迟群启动展自述

随着2010年毕业，身份的转化也带来了创作方式的转换，重新寻找适合自己的表达方式是我面临新的迫切问题.当时尝试打磨的方式，这种磨砺的感觉跟当时自己初踏入社会失去保护，面对一些无法预知，茫然的状态相吻合，在摩擦的过程中又有微微的光茫就像在远方看到了一丝丝的希望，支持我探索下去。经过毕业两年的积累，会慢慢适应社会，要跳脱之前的状态，找一种新的可能，所以对油画语言进一步的尝试，尤其色彩和空间的不断认识，形成的新的绘画语言。 今年的个展呈现了新的一系列，对形式空间新的拓展，空间进一步的平面化，更多的关注线与线的一种关系，在限定性很强的范畴来尽一步的挖掘，包括身体性的参与，新的工具的出现，新的思考方式的介入，都给我提供了新的可能性，这些改变使我的敏感度增加，体会到很多的不确定性，让我有一种热情去面对，激发我源远不断地探索的进程，在不断尝试体验的过程中慢慢让作品完善，也体现理性背后相对冷静的状态。After my graduation in 2010, the change in my identity from that of a student into that of an artist led to a change in my creative method. As I left school and its protection, I began to endure the trials and tribulations of unpredictable adult life. I searched for creative methods to express my new experiences and feelings. Techniques such as abrasion entered my creative process, as I felt the abrasion of a layer of paint on the canvas was much like the way I endured a certain stripping away of a protective cover that being a student had provided me, only to discover something deeper within myself. Through the trials and tribulations, I could see in the distance a light, a glimmer of hope that inspired me to keep pushing forward in my exploration of life and art. After I had left school for two years, I gradually came to become accustomed to independent life, and began to feel a need to make another breakthrough in my artistic expression. Through a constantly evolving and deepening understanding of color and space, I eventually came to develop a new artistic language to employ in my painting. This year’s solo exhibition showed a new series in which I further expand formal space, flatten three dimensional space, and devote myself to the relationship between lines on the canvas. In a highly limited realm, I attempt to dig deeper beneath the surface. By bringing into the creative method my body, a new set of tools, and a new thought process, new possibilities are created. These innovations have increased my sensitivity, allowed me to experience new uncertainties, and inspired me to face them with a re-invigorated spirit of adventure as I continue exploring new ways to perfect my work, while at the same time displaying the calmness that lies behind maintaining reason in the face of uncertainty.
